First aid and emergency response can get a bit boring if students are just memorizing steps for burns, choking, cuts, stings, etc. It’s a lot to remember, and the curriculum is often very medical and bland. (No shade to the American Red Cross...but it’s not exactly exciting.)
SO… I took the American Red Cross guidelines and turned them into a survival first aid simulation game! In this health lesson, students practice real skills while competing with other teams to “stay alive” based on their knowledge of emergency response. It’s fun, hands-on, and fully DONE-FOR-YOU!
Here’s the scenario: your students are on a week-long hike, and six different emergencies pop up (no, they’re not very lucky… hide the scissors).
- If their team responds correctly, they’re safe.
- If they respond incorrectly, they earn an X on their worksheet, bringing them closer to a very bad day (or, you know, “death” in the game).
- Some skills let them earn points to erase an X, but if they reach 10 Xs… whelp, they’re a goner.
What’s Included:
- 20+ editable Google Slides to guide the simulation
- 2-page worksheet for students to follow along and record answers
- Clear teacher instructions + NHES standards alignment
- Teacher’s key
- Embedded videos on the slides
Topics Covered:
- Treating cuts (both shallow and deep)
- Burns and their treatment
- Choking and the Heimlich maneuver
- Bee stings
- Tying a tourniquet
- Safe vs. unsafe situations to help
- Order of importance in emergency situations
