I’ve been seeing some hate for PD (Professional Development) lately on Insta & TikTok… Biggest complaint? Why are people who don’t teach in the classroom trying to push some acronym-filled theory that’s as useful as a Blockbuster gift card?!
But I gotta say, maybe I’m an outlier here… because I’ve only had freakin’ awesome PD—and here’s why:
I was lucky enough to pick my PD, and my school district approved it.
I chose topics that truly resonated with the challenges I was facing.
Burnout? I wanted to learn how to combat that.Parents? No one prepared me for how to actually work WITH parents as a teacher.Managing a BIG classroom.Creating real-world projects—not just another poster chilling in the recycling bin.
Those are the kinds of things I need. And those are the PD topics that actually get it.
So, if you’re rolling your eyes at the idea of getting your PD credits this year—or you’ve got your knitting supplies ready to zone out— Katie, let me save you!!
All those topics I mentioned.. they will be covered & more. The Wonder Years Teacher Summit outdid themselves with an incredible lineup of educators—teachers with real-world classroom experience who have their finger on the pulse of modern challenges. I’m talking about educators featured in The New York Times, NPR, TIME… the real experts. And they’re not here for fluff. They’re here with research-backed methods that actually work.
And I’m just gonna say it—somehow, I’m on that list. Y’all, I’m a guest speaker, too! I’ll be talking all about gamification in the classroom / connecting with Gen Z & I am SOOOOOOO FREAKIN’ EXCITED. I’m there to spice up PD and make it LifeFluent style.
I really hope you nerd out with me this Summer! But register soon because it’s early bird pricing, and of course, I’ve got a promo code for you.
